Featuring a unique “popule” design, the glass-free popule applicator is ideal for the collection of trace DNA at the crime scene. When saliva or other contact DNA sample is suspected, the user simply squeezes the handle of the Puritan ® Popule Swab between the thumb and forefinger, releasing a 91% isopropyl alcohol and 9% deionized water solution onto the foam tip. The swab can then be used to rehydrate and collect the dried sample. Because the fluid is contained in the handle, problems such as dripping, spilled bottles and cross-contamination are completely eliminated. Swabs with isopropyl alcohol should not be used to collect blood, as it may damage the cellular structures. Each box includes 40 individually packed swabs.
