The Rapid Stain Identification RSID™ Series is a unique group of tests developed by Independent Forensics, designed to identify a specific bodily fluid at a crime scene. However, unlike most other tests on the market, each test is specific to human saliva, semen or blood. After locating the suspected stain, a technician simply swabs the area and applies collected material to the appropriate test for a positive or negative result of human fluids. If the test produces a positive result, enough biological material is preserved for successful DNA STR analysis. Since each test is specific to human bodily fluids, they will not cross-react with other animal fluids. Each kit is sensitive enough to detect as little as 1 microliter of saliva, semen or blood, and are so specific, they are considered confirmatory tests.

The RSID™ Human Semen Field Kit is the first confirmatory test on the market for human seminal fluid. Unlike other non-specific technology on the marketplace, this kit is specific for human semenogelin antigens and will not cross react with the myriad of other human body fluids that can cause false positives. The results of the RSID™ Human Semen Field Test correlates with Y-STR profile intensity, except from vasectomized or low sperm count males. All materials needed to perform the stain analysis, as well as document and transport the results are included in the kit.
