Prior to casting with Traxtone or dental stone, it is recommended that SnowPrint Wax™ be sprayed into the impression. As most casting materials harden, they produce an exothermic heat producing reaction which can cause a loss of footwear or tire track detail. SnowPrint Wax™ “holds” the details of the impression and acts as an insulator, preventing the snow from melting and obscuring important details.
Since SnowPrint Wax™ is red, spraying several layers on the impression allows for superior photographic recording of the details in color before casting with dental stone. It is also a good warning sign to others at the crime scene so they won’t step on the impressions or drive their vehicles over the suspect tire tracks. One can of SnowPrint Wax™ will produce about 7-10 prints, depending on the size of the impression.
