The Coleman Vacu-Print™ is an economical vacuum chamber designed specifically for the development of latent prints with cyanoacrylate esters CA. Available in either a table-top or long rifle chamber, both models are made of high-tensile strength aircraft aluminum. This material was selected over PVC because PVC may degrade with time and usage. The optional 1⁄3 horsepower pump/motor can be used to evacuate air from the chamber. Once a vacuum has been created, cyanoacrylate esters are pulled into the evidence inside the chambers and completely permeates the objects, processing latent prints in areas that would not be reachable through other fuming or development methods. When finished, the evidence will not have a thick layer of white powder residue, although the latent prints are “locked on” the item. Allow the items to remain in the air for about ten minutes before processing with powders or chemicals.
An optional dual connector can be used to connect two Coleman Vacu-Print™ chambers to one pump. Simply attach the connector to the pump, then connect each chamber to each hose. Evacuate one chamber, close the valve and evacuate the second chamber. A high-altitude vacuum hose is available for those who are at higher elevations.
