The EpiLight is used to visualize processed and unprocessed fingerprints on non-porous surfaces. Featuring co-axial illumination, it provides vertical lighting directly along the viewers line of sight. This reduces the need for side lighting for illumination and provides higher contrast. Ideal for use on any surface where fingerprints could be viewed without processing, the EpiLight allows the user to capture fingerprints in their natural, unprocessed state before physical processes which may damage the print are applied.
Once a fingerprint is located using oblique lighting, the EpiLight is placed directly over the latent print. The clear acrylic riser features small rubber feat which holds the light over the surface so there is no direct contact with the print. The clear acrylic allows for side lighting with an alternate light source. The EpiLight uses a bright, incandescent bulb and a diffusion filter to produce a cool, white light, powered by a variable light transformer, which allows the user to adjust the intensity of the emitted light.
A viewing tube can be attached to the top of the unit for viewing visualized prints. The fingerprints can be viewed using both eyes, from a distance. A camera can be easily attached for photography of the resulting fingerprints through use of an optional lens and camera mount attachment. Camera adapters are available for a wide variety of lenses. Contact your local Armor Forensics representative for more information.
The EpiLight features a long, 5-foot cable and an additional 6-foot power cable from the transformer to the wall, providing the examiner full freedom of movement around the evidence. Camera, lens and lens adapter not included.
