The Blue Lightning™ is a blue LED head lamp which provides hands-free lighting for crime scene searching and processing. The head lamp includes standard white LEDs, to aid in general illumination. Then, with the push of a button, it can be used as a blue light source for fluorescent illumination and searching. The blue LEDs emit light in the 470nm range which, when used in conjunction with orange goggles, is ideal when searching for bodily fluids such as semen and urea or for general searches for fibers and trace evidence. The Blue Lightning™ can also be used when dusting for latent prints using fluorescent powders such as Redwop™ and Blitz-Green™
