The Docustat DS-210 is used to visualize and recover indented writing and dusty footwear marks that might be found at a crime scene. With the largest bed on the market 16.9" x 16.9", small and large sheets of paper can be examined without the need to process in pieces. The bed features a large number of vacuum points across the extra-large bed, which holds documents in place during development and transfers finer detail than most other indented writing recovery units. An optional humidifier unit facilities the attraction of the static electric field to the evidence, increasing the chances of indented writing recovery.
When developing indented writing, a document is placed on the large bed. Type IW film is placed over the document, the vacuum is activated and the film is charged with the corona bar. The bed is tilted at up to a 45° angle to cascade a special toner mixed with minute glass beads over the item. No physical contact is ever made with the document, so there is no chance that minute details may be damaged or destroyed. The toner adheres to the fine impressions in the document and extra toner falls into the capture tray for clean-up and recovery.
