- Stand-alone unit reads both ICAO and RFID information
- Easily verifies passport RFID information
- Works with any Windows-based computer
As of October 2006, all new United States passports are embedded with a Radio Frequency ID (RFID) chip. This chip contains the standard ICAO information, as well as a photo and other identifying information. The new Projectina® PAGSCAN 1000 was developed in response to this development. The unit attaches to any standard Windows-based laptop through a USB 2.0 connection. No external power is required. Simply swipe the passport, and in seconds, the included software displays and verifies the passport information against ICAO standards. Then, simply place the passport into the included RFID reader port. The digitized photo stored on the RFID chip is displayed, for verification against the passport holder, and the information stored on the chip is displayed and verified against the ICAO information.
